Events (Audit Log)

This page is used to view and audit events that occur within the system.

The event log, also referred to as the Audit Log, provides a chronological record of actions performed by users and system services. It is primarily used for traceability, troubleshooting, and compliance.


Purpose

The purpose of this page is to give administrators and auditors visibility into what has happened in the system and when.

This page is typically used when: - Investigating changes made to users, resources, or permissions - Auditing system activity for compliance or security purposes - Troubleshooting unexpected behavior - Understanding the history of actions performed by users or system services

The audit log is read-only and cannot be modified by users.


Who can access this page

Access to the Events / Audit Log page is restricted and controlled by permissions.

Typically, only users with: - Audit log permissions - System administration permissions

will be able to view this page.

If the page is not visible, you do not have the required permissions to access audit information.


  • Primary nodes: Audit Log
  • Related nodes: Person, Organization Unit, Resource, Request, Permission

Audit log entries reference other nodes in the system but are not directly editable or manageable themselves.


Page layout

The page consists of a searchable and filterable table of events.

At the top of the page, you will find search and filter controls.
Below this, events are displayed in a paginated table.

Audit log overview

When navigating to the Events page, the most recent events are shown by default.


Event list

Each row in the table represents a single event recorded by the system.

The table typically includes the following columns:

  • Operator – The user or system service that performed the action
  • Event – A description of what happened
  • Subject – The entity or object the event relates to
  • Time – The date and time when the event occurred

Events are ordered chronologically, with the newest events shown first.


Search and filtering

The event list can be refined using search and filter controls.

You can filter events by: - Free-text search - Date range - Event type - Operator - Other event-specific filters

Filtering allows you to narrow down large event logs to relevant entries.


Permissions tab

In addition to the event list, a Permissions tab is available.

This tab allows administrators to manage which users or organization units are allowed to view the audit log.

Workflows
  • Grant permissions to view the audit log
  • Revoke permissions from viewing the audit log

Common usage notes

  • The audit log is append-only and cannot be altered.
  • System-generated events are recorded under a system service user.
  • Event timestamps reflect the time the action was recorded by the system.
  • You can view all the data on the event, by clicking on one of them.
  • Visibility of events may be limited based on your permissions and scope.
