Give Access
This workflow shows how to give a person access to a resource in the system.
Goal
The goal of this workflow is to grant access to one or more resources for a person.
Giving access is typically done after a request has been approved or when access is needed immediately.
Who can perform this workflow
This workflow is restricted, and you must have the correct permissions to complete it.
To perform this workflow, you must either: - Be a system administrator - Have the required permissions to manage access or permissions
Preconditions
- The person must already exist in the system
- The resource must already exist in the system
- You must have the required permissions to manage access
- If required, the access request must be approved

Workflow steps
There are multiple ways to give access.
Method 1 - Give access from a person
- Navigate to the organization units & persons page
- Find the relevant person in the node tree
- Navigate to the access section
- Click Add access
- Select the relevant resource or permission
- Set the required scope or validity period
- Confirm the action
Method 2 - Give access from a resource
- Navigate to the resources page
- Find the relevant resource in the node tree
- Navigate to the access section
- Click Add access
- Select the relevant person or group
- Set the required scope or validity period
- Confirm the action
Result
- Access is granted for the person
- Access becomes active according to the selected validity
- The resource reflects the updated access state
- A notification is shown to confirm the action
