Block Card

This workflow shows how to block a smart card in the system.


Goal

The goal of this workflow is to block an existing smart card so it can no longer be used for access.

Blocking a card is typically used when a card is lost, stolen, compromised, or should no longer grant access, while still preserving the card and its history in the system.


Who can perform this workflow

This workflow is restricted, and you must have the correct permissions to complete it.

To perform this workflow, you must either: - Be a system administrator - Have the required permissions to manage smart cards or credentials


Preconditions

  • The smart card must already exist in the system
  • The smart card must be in active state before blocking is allowed
  • You must have the required permissions to manage the card

Workflow steps

  1. Navigate to the relevant page
  2. Locate the person who has a card that needs to be blocked
  3. Navigate to the Credentials section
  4. Find the relevant card in the list
  5. Click on the card in the list
  6. Click on the Block button
  7. Confirm the action in the modal/dialog that overlays the screen

Result

  • The smart card is marked as blocked in the system
  • The card can no longer be used for access
  • Any access checks reflect the blocked state
  • A notification is shown to confirm the action

  • The card is already blocked or in an invalid state

  • Backend or server errors
