Deactivate Card
This workflow shows how to deactivate a smart card in the system.
Goal
The goal of this workflow is to deactivate an existing smart card so it can no longer be used for access.
Deactivating a card is typically used when a card should be taken out of use without blocking it, for example during replacement or when access is no longer needed.
Who can perform this workflow
This workflow is restricted, and you must have the correct permissions to complete it.
To perform this workflow, you must either: - Be a system administrator - Have the required permissions to manage smart cards or credentials
Preconditions
- The smart card must already exist in the system
- The smart card must be in active state before deactivation is allowed
- You must have the required permissions to manage the card

Workflow steps
- Navigate to the relevant page
- Locate the person who has a card that needs to be deactivated
- Navigate to the Credentials section
- Find the relevant card in the list
- Click on the card in the list
- Click on the Deactivate button
- Confirm the action in the modal/dialog that overlays the screen
Result
- The smart card is marked as inactive in the system
- The card can no longer be used for access
- Any access checks reflect the inactive state
- A notification is shown to confirm the action
